- Ingredients
- Beginning:
- 1 tsp (5 ml). sugar
- 2 cups (475 ml) warm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 cups (475 ml) flour
- Cake Dough:
- 2 cups (475 ml) beginner dough
- 2 cups (475 ml) flour
- 1 cup (225 ml) sugar
- 2/3 cup (150 ml) oil
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml). salt
- 1-1/2 tsp (7 ml). cinnamon
- 1-1/2 tsp (7 ml). baking powder
- 1 cup (225 ml) chopped apple
- 1 cup (225 ml) coconut
- Icing:
- 2 tbsp (30 ml). butter
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
- Preparation
- Beginning dough:
- Dissolve yeast in water.
- Add sugar and then flour.
- Mix well.
- Cover and set aside until next day.
- Next day add:
- 1 cup (225 ml) flour
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
- 1 cup (225 ml) milk
- Next days:
- Keep dough in refrigerator and stir every day.
- On the fifth day, add above ingredients again.
- On the tenth day, bake the cake.
- Before making cake batter, remove 1 cup (225 ml) for your next cake and 1 cup (225 ml) for your friend.
- Cake:
- Mix ingredients well.
- Pour into greased and floured 9 inch x 13 inch pan.
- Drizzle with a mixture of:
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) melted butter
- 1 tsp (5 ml). flour
- 1 tsp (5 ml). cinnamon
- Bake at 350 degrees (175 C.) for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Icing:
- Simmer icing ingredients in a saucepan for 5 minutes.
- Drizzle over cake while still warm.
- Note: The dough will keep in the freezer until you wish to make another cake.
- To begin your second cake, start at the line that reads "Next day add".

- This a somewhat time-consuming cake to make but has delicious results. I am
unsure if this is what you are looking for. It is a yeast dough and may
therefore be called a bread by some, although the literal translation is
"Friendship Cake".
