Serves/Makes:1 layer cake 
 
Ingredients
   1/2 cup (125 ml) butter
 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) sugar
2  eggs
 4 tbsp (60 ml) red food coloring
 2 tbsp (30 ml) cocoa
 1 cup (225 ml) buttermilk
 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
 2-1/2 cups (600 ml) sifted flour
 1 tbsp (15 ml) vinegar
 1 tsp (5 ml) baking soda
 Cream Cheese Frosting:
 1/2 cup (125 ml) butter
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
 4 cups (950 ml) confectioners sugar
 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  Preparation
   Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 C.).
 Cream 1/2 cup (125 ml) butter, sugar, and eggs.
Beat in food coloring and cocoa.
Mix in buttermilk, salt, vanilla, baking soda and vinegar.
Slowly add flour to mixture.
Put batter into two greased 9 inch round pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Allow to cool completely, then frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
 To make Cream Cheese Frosting:
 Combine 1/2 cup (125 ml) butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and vanilla.
Mix until well blended.
