- Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 cup (225 ml) flour
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml) baking soda
- 1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) buttermilk
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) shortening
- 1 egg
- Topping:
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped nuts
- 1/4 tsp (1 ml) nutmeg
- Preparation
- Grease 8 inch pan.
- Combine all cake ingredients.
- Blend until moistened; beat at medium speed, 2 minutes.
- Pour into pan.
- Combine all topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Heat oven 350 degrees (175 C.) F.
- Uncover coffee cake and bake 25-35 minutes.
