- Ingredients
- 3 large firm green tomatoes
- 1-1/2 tsp (7 ml) salt
- 3/4 tsp (4 ml) pepper
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) white corn meal
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) Crisco
- Preparation
- Wash tomatoes and slice 1/4 inch thick.
- Do not use top or bottom of tomatoes.
- Sprinkle each slice with salt and pepper.
- Dip in corn meal and fry in hot Crisco.
- Brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately.
