Serves/Makes:8 sandwiches
- Ingredients
- 1 lb (.5 kg). ground lamb
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped onion
- 2 tsp (10 ml). minced garlic
- 3/4 tsp (4 ml). salt
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml). dried marjoram, crumbled
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml). dried rosemary, crumbled
- 1/8 tsp (1 ml). black pepper
- 4 (7") pita bread, cut in half
- shredded lettuce
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- Cucumber Mint Sauce:
- 1 cup (225 ml) plain yogurt
- 1 cup (225 ml) sour cream
- 1 medium cucumber, seeded, chopped
- 1/4 tsp (1 ml). dried leaf mint, crumbled
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml). salt
- 1/8 tsp (1 ml). black pepper
- Preparation
- Combine first 7 ingredients.
- Cook until meat is fully done.
- Drain.
- Combine Cucumber Mint Sauce ingredients.
- Spoon hot meat mixture into each opened pita half.
- Spoon mint sauce over meat.
- Top with lettuce, tomatoes and additional sauce.
- Serve at once.
