- 1 cup (225 ml) flour
- 1/2 bottle beer
- pepper, to taste
- garlic salt, to taste
- Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
- Dredge the fish, chicken, shrimp, or even onion rings in the batter and drop in hot oil to fry.
- It may take a little more or less beer or flour but the batter should be thick enough to coat a spoon well when dipped in.
Beer works better when it has lost most of the fizz. This works well with lots of different meats and seafood and gives it a fluffy batter that is crunchy on the outside but remains moist inside.
