Serves/Makes:1 Cake with 6-9 servings.
- Ingredients
- 1 cup (225 ml) flour
- 3/4 cup (175 ml) sugar
- 6 tbsp (90 ml) cocoa, divided
- 2 tsp (10 ml) baking powder
- 1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1 cup (225 ml) packed brown sugar
- 1-3/4 cups (425 ml) hot water
- Preparation
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, and 2 tbsp (30 ml) of the cocoa, baking powder and salt.
- Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread in an ungreased 9 inch square baking pan.
- Combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter.
- Pour hot water over all, however, DO NOT STIR THIS.
- Bake at 350 degrees (175 C.) for 35-40 minutes.

- Serving Suggestions: Best served warm from oven. Top with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
