Hot Fudge Cake

This cake has a thick rich bottom with a hot fudge topping. VERY SIMPLE and ooooey good!

Serves/Makes:1 Cake with 6-9 servings.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (225 ml) flour
  • 3/4 cup (175 ml) sugar
  • 6 tbsp (90 ml) cocoa, divided
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (225 ml) packed brown sugar
  • 1-3/4 cups (425 ml) hot water
Preparation
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, and 2 tbsp (30 ml) of the cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  • Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread in an ungreased 9 inch square baking pan.
  • Combine brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter.
  • Pour hot water over all, however, DO NOT STIR THIS.
  • Bake at 350 degrees (175 C.) for 35-40 minutes.

Serving Suggestions: Best served warm from oven. Top with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
