Diet Cabbage Soup and the diet from the 80'

Serves/Makes:6 quarts

Ingredients
  • 1 48 oz (1344 grm). can V-8 juice
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 1/2 head of cabbage
  • 6 large green onions
  • 6 carrots
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2 cubes bouillion
  • 1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix
  • salt
  • pepper
  • curry powder
  • garlic powder
  • parsley
Preparation
  • Chop and dice veggies.
  • Add all ingredients into a large stock pot.
  • Add water if necessary to bring liquids to almost twice the depth of the veggies in pot. Bring to boil, stir as needed. Cook on low-medium heat for 30-40 minutes or until veggies are soft.
  • Season to taste with salt, pepper, curry, garlic powder,parsley, or any other seasoning to suit your taste.
Comments
You may safely keep prepared soup in your fridge for up to 1 week.

Day 1- Any fruits you want except bananas-plus all the soup you want.

Day 2- All the veggies you want,baked potato with margarine for dinner- plus all the soup you want.

Day 3- Combine day 1 & 2, but no potato-plus all the soup you want.

Day 4- Up to six bananas, all the skim milk you want- plus all the soup you want.

Day 5- 10-20 oz. of beef, chicken, or fish, a small can of tomatoes- plus all the soup you want.

Day 6- All the beef,chicken,fish and vegetables you want-plus all the soup you want.

Day 7- Up to a cup of brown rice at lunch and dinner, up to 12 oz. of unsweetened fruit juices and all the non-starchy vegetables you want(no beans,potatoes etc,) plus all the soup you want

In addition to the above you should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day.

All meat should be baked of grilled- not fried. Consider steaming your vegetables.

No bread, alcohol,or carbonated beverages are allowed-not even diet pop. Coffee or tea should be decaf and only artificial sweetener should be used.

Do not stay on this diet more than 7 days. Always check with your doctor before beginning any diet program.

I changed some of the ingredients in the soup and also used a seven bone chuck steak. I refridgerated the soup and then took the solid grease off the top. Also had removed all visable fat.
