Recipe Information
Source:
Sissy Wommack

Serves/Makes:16

Ingredients
  • 2 Granny Smith apples
  • 2 tubes refrigerator crescent rolls
  • 1 cup (225 ml) butter
  • 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml). cinnamon
  • 1 12 oz (336 grm). can Mountain Dew soft drink
Preparation
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  • Peel, core and slice each apple into 8 pieces. (note: one of those round gadgets that core and slice apples into 8 pieces, does the trick great, but the old knife and hand still works.)
  • Take each slice and wrap one of the cresent rolls around it, sealing the edges well.
  • Place each of them in an ungreased glass 9 x 13 inch baking dish (as we call it here, a pyrex dish).
  • Then in a saucepan, melt the 2 sticks of butter, then add the sugar and cinnamon, just heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Then pour the butter, sugar and cinnamon mixture over the apple/rolls.
  • Then pour the can of mountain dew over that.
  • Bake at 325 degrees (175 C.) for 45 minutes.
  • (Now how simple can it get, and it is great!! And cheap.)
  • I think I would like to use more apples, and Ann said, you can if you want too, just preference!!
Comments
We just came from a neighborhood Halloween get together, and everybody brings something. Ann Riley, brought these. Ann is our property evaluator here in the county, not a very popular job, but someone has to do it, and she handles it great!! Has to put us with people like me, complaining about their property tax bill, and since I am a local realtor in a small county in Kentucky, I find myself even complaining to her for other people!! Ha. But thru it all she is still my friend.

When I tasted this, I could not believe it was so good and easy. Now, I am supposed to be on the low carb diet, and this definitely is not low carb, ha, but hey, it's Halloween! Anyway, I told her to e-mail me the recipe, and then when we left, she and her husband, Jerry, were walking down the street going home, I hallered out the window, to remind her again to send the recipe. And she did!! When I got it I noticed that she had gotten it from another friend of hers so I wanted you to know that this recipe came to me from ann Riley, and it was given to her by Neila Monroe. Enjoy!! Sis
