Serves/Makes: 1 bundt or tube cake
- Ingredients
- 1 cup (225 ml) milk
- 2 tbsp (30 ml). margarine or butter
- 2 cups (475 ml) sugar
- 2 cups (475 ml) flour
- 1/2 tsp (2 ml). salt
- 2 tsp (10 ml). baking powder
- 2 tbsp (30 ml). vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 1 large tube cake pan, well greased and dusted with flour.
- Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 C.).
- Put milk and butter into a small pot and set aside.
- Sift sugar into a bowl and set aside.
- Sift flour into a bowl, then add the salt and the baking powder.
- With a wire whisk, mix the ingredients well together. Set aside.
- In large bowl, beat 4 eggs until fluffy, then blend in the vanilla.
- Mix well.
- Add sugar.
- Mix until smooth.
- Add flour mixture.
- At medium speed, blend until smooth.
- Heat milk and butter or margarine.
- Bring to boiling point. (Until bubbles form around edge).
- Add milk mixture to batter.
- Mix until smooth.
- Pour batter into tube pan.
- Bounce pan a couple of times to remove air bubbles. Place pan in center of oven.
- Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees (175 C.).
- When finished, set aside and let cool. Then place on wire rack to finish cooling.
