Serves/Makes:2 quarts approx.

Ingredients

• 4 cups (950 ml) water
• 3-3/4 cups (875 ml) sugar
• 3/4 cup (175 ml) instant coffee
• 1 fifth of cheap vodka
• 1 vanilla bean

Preparation

• Bring water to a boil, add sugar and boil for 5 minutes.
• Stir in instant coffee, 1 spoonful at a time.
• Bring back to a boil.
• Remove from heat and allow to cool for several minutes. Stir in the vodka.
• Split the vanilla bean and put in a 1/2 gallon (1.9 ltr) jug.
• Pour in your mixture and let stand for 2 weeks.
