Stewed Tomatoes

Serves/Makes:4 c. or more

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs (.9 kg). tomatoes, peeled, cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
  • 1/8 tsp (1 ml) pepper
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) butter
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) finely minced onion, optional
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) finely minced green bell pepper, optional
Preparation
  • Place tomatoes in a medium saucepan; cover tightly.
  • Cook tomatoes over lowest heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
