- 1 18.5 oz (518 grm). package yellow cake mix
- 1 16 oz (448 grm). can fruit cocktail
- 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) flaked coconut
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) butter
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) white sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) evaporated milk
- Combine cake mix, undrained fruit, 1 cup (225 ml) coconut and eggs.
- Blend; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes and pour into a greased 9 inch x 13 inch pan.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar and nuts.
- Bake at 325 degrees (175 C.) for 45 minutes.
- Bring butter, sugar and milk to a boil.
- Boil 1 minute.
- Stir in 1/2 cup (125 ml) coconut.
- Spoon over warm cake.
- Top with prepared whipped topping, if desired.
