Serves/Makes:8 servings
- Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 cup (225 ml) milk (including egg as listed above)
- 1 stick margarine, softened
- 1 cup (225 ml) sugar
- 2 cups (475 ml) flour
- 2 tsp (10 ml). baking powder
- 2 21 oz (588 grm). cans cherry pie filling
- Topping:
- 1 cup (225 ml) flour
- 1 cup (225 ml) sugar
- 1 stick margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped nuts (optional)
- Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 C.).
- Place egg in measuring cup and add enough milk to make 1 cup (225 ml).
- Mix dry ingredients with margarine.
- Then mix all with milk mixture.
- Pour, into 9-by-13-inch pan.
- On top of batter pour cherry pie filling.
- For topping:
- Mix flour, sugar, and margarine until crumbly.
- Add nuts, if desired.
- Spread crumbs over top of cherries.
- Bake 40 minutes or until lightly browned.
- Serve warm or cold.
- Enjoy!

- I found this while looking through old recipes to put in a cookbook I am making for my daughters. It was one of our Lil Gram's and I felt a need to share it with you all. Lil Gram was the best bread maker in the whole world and her coffeecakes were a family favorite.
