Serves/Makes:1 13 x 9 inch pan
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) shortening
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) sugar
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) maple syrup
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp (5 ml). vanilla extract
- 1 cup (225 ml) flour
- 1 tsp (5 ml). salt
- 1 tsp (5 ml). baking powder
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) oatmeal
- 1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped walnuts
- Cream shortening, sugar, maple syrup, egg and vanilla.
- Mix and add dry ingrediants.
- Put into lightly greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees (175 C.) for 30 minutes.
- Cool on cake rack.
- Cut into squares or bars to serve.
- Tastes good warm with milk or ice cream.
