Ingredients
  • 1 cup (225 ml) white corn meal
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml). salt
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) boiling water
  • 1 T melted butter
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml). baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) buttermilk
  • oil for frying
Preparation
  • Mix corn meal with salt.
  • Stir in boiling water.
  • Add butter.
  • Put baking soda in buttermilk.
  • Stir buttermilk into meal mixture until all ingredients are mixed well.
  • Heat about 3" of oil in pan or skillet.
  • Drop mix by heaping tsp into hot oil.
  • Fry till brown on one side, turn fry on other side.
