Description:
Shortbread cookie with Black Walnuts

Serves/Makes:3 dozen or more

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (225 ml) real butter
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 ml). real vanilla
  • 2 cups (475 ml) flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml). salt
  • 1 small pkg. black walnuts, chopped finely
  • powdered sugar, for rolling
Preparation
  • Mix together butter, powdered sugar, salt, vanilla and nuts.
  • Add flour to wet ingredients and mix well.
  • Roll into small walnut size balls.
  • Bake at 400 degrees (200 C.) until only light golden in color.
  • Allow to cool and set for about five minutes.
  • While still a little warm roll the balls in the powdered sugar.
  • When completely cool roll balls in the powdered sugar again
  • Store in an air tight container.
Comments
Some people like to use pecans in their recipes but I prefer using black walnuts.They give the taste a little more kick. A quick and easy last minute cookie to take to picnics,dinners and family get togethers.
