A Kentucky favorite


Serves/Makes:1 9-inch pie

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) margarine
  • 1 cup (225 ml) sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup (175 ml) light corn syrup
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml). salt
  • 1 tsp (5 ml). vanilla
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml). bourbon
  • One 9-inch pie shell, unbaked
  • Whipped Cream:
  • 1 cup (225 ml) whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) bourbon
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) powdered sugar
  • Heat oven to 375-degrees.
  • In large mixing bowl, cream together sugar and margarine.
  • Add remaining ingredients, stir till blended.
  • Pour into pie shell.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes.
  • Cool 1 hour.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  • Whipped Cream:
  • Beat 1 cup (225 ml) whipping cream and 1 tbsp (15 ml) bourbon until foamy; gradually add 1/4 cup (60 ml) powdered sugar, beating until soft peaks form.
