  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) shortening
  • 3 cups (700 ml) finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup (225 ml) chopped celery
  • 1 med green pepper, chopped (use less)
  • 1 med. onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) salt
  • 1/8 tsp (1 ml) pepper
  • Heat shortening in skillet.
  • Drop in vegetables and stir well.
  • Cover tightly and steam 5 minutes on medium heat, stirring several times.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve immediately.
