Cornmeal Dumplings

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) baking powder
  • Dash pepper
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) cooking oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, cheddar cheese, cornmeal, baking powder, and pepper.
  • Combine beaten egg, milk, and oil.
  • Add to flour mixture, stir with a fork just till combined.
  • Use in stews, soups.
Might be good in Hungarian Goulash.
