Seven Layer Casserole

  • potatoes, sliced 1/3 inch thick
  • 2 lbs (.9 kg). crumbled ground beef (uncooked)
  • carrots, sliced 1/3 inch thick
  • fresh tomatoes, sliced
  • bell pepper, sliced
  • celery, sliced
  • potatoes, sliced 1/3 inch thick
  • salt, pepper and garlic salt, to taste
  • 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) water
  • Prepare a 9 x 13 inch pan or large casserole dish.
  • Layer ingredients in order, seasoning each as you go.
  • Pour in the water.
  • Cover and bake at 325 degrees (175 C.) for about 2 hours, until the vegetables are tender.
  • Add more water if needed.
It doesn't get much easier than this. Believe it or not, it really is good. This recipe is very easy to alter to your taste. It seems to require a lot of salt so I've gotten to where I season each individual layer. Hope you and your family like it.
