Buttermilk Scones

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) butter, melted
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 pint buttermilk
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) sugar
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
  • 1 lb (.5 kg) self-rising flour
  • Add butter and egg to buttermilk.
  • Mix well then add dry ingredients.
  • Mix to soft dough.
  • Turn out on floured surface.
  • Knead lightly.
  • Cut off pieces of dough and flatten by hand.
  • Prick with fork.
  • Bake at 400 degrees (200 C.) F. 10 to 15 minutes.
NOTE: Knead dough as little as possible.
