Serves/Makes:Makes 3 - 9x13 in. cakes

Ingredients
  • Put 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) starter juice
  • 2-1/2 cups (600 ml) sugar
  • 1 large can sliced peaches with juice in a gallon jar with a tight fitting lid (stir dailing)
  • On day 10 1/2 add:
  • 2-1/2 cups (600 ml) sugar and 1 large can crushed pineapple with juice (Stir daily)
  • On day 20 1/2 add:
  • 2 - 9 ozs. bottles of Marachino cherries (without juice) stir daily
  • On day 30: Drain fruit (save for cake)
  • Save starter juice. It will make 3 starter of 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) each Keep one and the other 2 to friends.
  • DO NOT REFRIGERATE THIS ABOVE MIXTURE. This is your starter.
  • Friendship Cake Recipe:
  • 1-1/2 cups (350 ml) fruit from starter
  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix that has pudding in mix.
  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup (150 ml) oil
  • 1 cup (225 ml) chopped nuts
Preparation
  • Mix all ingredients well.
  • Bake in 9x13 inch cake pan that has been greased and floured.
  • Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees (175 C.).
  • You should have enough to make 3 cakes at a time.
