Serves/Makes:2 cups

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sugar
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml). flour
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml). salt
  • 2 cups (475 ml) milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml). butter
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml). vanilla extract
  • Combine sugar, flour and salt in a 1 quart (950 ml) saucepan.
  • Gradually add milk and stir until smooth.
  • Add butter.
  • Bring sauce to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Boil for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat and add vanilla.
May be used to pour over dessert rolls and crepes.
