Boiled fruit pudding



  • 6 large apples
  • 6 eggs
  • 6 oz (168 grm). finely crumbled bread
  • 6 oz (168 grm). currants
  • 6 oz (168 grm). sugar
  • salt and nutmeg to taste
  • Pare, core and finely chop apples.
  • Beat eggs.
  • Mix all ingredients.
  • Boil 3 hours in a floured cloth tied very tight.
  • Serve with wine flavored hard sauce.
Recipe brought to America from England in 1799.
